thats correct....its not that i have new tires...just really slick shiny tires


would dish soap get rid of the slickness?? i'll give it a shot. i was also thinking about doing some figure 8's in parking lot...b/c its slick where the chicken strips would be. anyone else not like shiny sidewalls??? i think it looks pretty good.....well....maybe not anymore considering what happened. but i like the look of it being clean

 

Brake cleaner will eat away at your tires. It is in fact a solvent. I somehow got a single drop of it my windscreen, which was stock and clear and it turned the spot white. I had to buy a new screen, not that a smoked one wasn't in plan anyhow. A wire brush or sandpaper will work it out, but it is fun to smoke it up on occasion.

 

Damn dude, that really sucks. It is amazing that only a little bit on the tread will do that. Best of luck in getting it all fixed up.

 

well....i rode to work today...tires seem better now. feeling alittle more sticky.....just looks like i have chicken strips again that i have to wear down. still a little afraid to lean really hard. in the back of my mind i feel like it will just slip again.

in anycase...i took sodamninsane's advise and just heat cycled and took corners slower to wear down the slickness. seemed to work ok. later today or tomorrow i'll probably wash her up and scrub the tires anyway. thanks for all the advise

 

just use some dawn dish soap and water. it will take the grease off and the tires will be fine.
