i was worried about high rangestoo, butafter reading, it seems normal.at 72 degrees farenheit, easy city riding 3-4th gear 40-45mph, while riding its 200 and at stop light reaches 220. fan kicks in, green light and repeat. expressway 185-190's.never over 230-232 even on 90plus traffic days. honda tech say dont worry unless it hits 240.

I live in Myrtle Beach where downtown tourist traffic can be a handful, and mine does about the same, it'll run 200-207 or so just rolling 40mph range on the hottest days we have (around 100) and then it rarely tops 223 at normal redlights.
Is it ill-advised to kill the engine when I know I'm at a long light? We have a few lights around here that run close to 3 min. if youre sitting cross-section to the main highway, and I've started cutting mine off and then when the lights turn yellow I start it back up to keep it from sitting and idling in that kind of heat.

I live in Melbourne, Australia and my '05 CBR600 RR has gone to about 108deg C (225deg F) in highly dense traffic, although it is the middle of winter here in AUS. Intresting to see how hot it will get during the summer. Anyway, my manualrecommends that once it reaches 135 deg C (275deg F), i should take it back to the dealer and get it checked out.

None of us should worry until the temp starts getting near 248 degrees F. I find that if you use 90% water, 10% anti-freeze and water-wetter, your bike runs much cooler (15+ degrees cooler) for the hot months. Then flush a bit of it to add anti-freeze when it starts getting cooler again.
Thermal breakdown isn't a fun thing to have happen (blew an engine on my car once because of it.)
