RE: Questions on buying wrecked bike
be very careful!
I just did one similar to what you got, but mine was an '05 Triumph Daytona 650.
I jumped on what looked like a good deal (I spent $3500 but it wasn't in as bad a shape as yours), and ended up spending alot more than I thought it was going to cost to get it on the road. I ended up keeping it naked, and converting it over to a Speed Four front end. Even though I got most of my parts on Ebay, it still cost me about $2000, and that's without fairings!
Honestly, this time of year used bikes are getting cheap. . .if you bought a used bike at a good deal, it would be less aggravation than putting a crashed bike back together, unless you can get a steal of a deal on it (like $1000-$1500)
Good luck.

RE: Questions on buying wrecked bike
Looks like the bike was in a highside, I would bet 2k$ was just what the shop could see and would probably balloon to 3.5-4 k$ after they got everything apart. Then factor in labor if you don't want to do all the work at 80 $/hr. and you're in the hole almost what a good used one is with aCLEAN TITLE.
I vote "no go".
