Question on engine life
I'm in the market for a used bike for around 6k, and came upon 2004 CBR600RR with 4 years left on the warranty, two brothers pipe, power commander, and a fender eliminator kit for $6,400 OBO.
It seems like a good price although the catch is that it has 9k miles on it. Heres where the quesiton comes into play.
Is 9k allot for a motorcycle? How long do these engines go before they require serious motorwork. If I could ride this out with only minor maitnence such as air filter cleaning, oild changes, and fresh tires to 25-30k then I don't see a problem with the miles.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

At 20,000, most Honda's are just gettin broken in. No ****. I wouldnt worry about 9k. I have 23K on my 99 900 and it runs just as good as when it had 5k, hell, probably acutally better. Nothing to worry about besides routine maint. It all depends on how you take care of it. If you abuse the **** out of it and dont do any maint, no, it wont last you. I have probably 1200 track day miles on my bike and nothing to note as far as maint. That's 1200 miles of wide open throttle 6000-12000 rpm and HARD on the brakes. All you gotta do it keep it up. Change oil regurlarly, lube chain, clean air filter once in a while, check brake pads, tighten bolts/nuts, check em often. Fear not my friend, buy it and enjoy.

This will answer your question. This is a 2004 with 50,000 miles. https://cbrforum.com/m_97525/tm.htm
