Default Power commander w/ exhaust only?

Im going to be picking up my new bike tomorrow (hopefully) and i was planning to have a few things thrown in as a package deal. My friends tell me that an exhaust is a must, not for the added power but because of lousy hawaii drivers. my question is would it be ok to just run the slip-on by itself on the stock bike or would it make a noticeable difference with a power commander?

the PCIII should be an after thought. a slip on shouldn't mess the system up that much. Then again, I'm not sure what you plan on purchasing either. if your bike runs like CRAP after the slip on install, then yeah, i'd get the PCIII with a Custom Map and not those generic garbage ones off the DynoJet website. a slip on doesn't give you more power contrary to popular belief. it just gives it to you faster, you'll still be around 105 at the top, but you'll have more in the middle. that's what a slip on does.

i'll tell you what does give you more power: Short V stacks. with a slipon, PCIII and STOCK modified V-Stacks, you will net more top end HP, and a smoother Midrange.

it's like a $12 mod, the V-Stacks i mean. everything else costs buku.

i was only planning to do the slip-on just for the sound and since my friends say its also a safety issue.

since the velocity stack mod is so cheap, i guess i'll be doing that too for the heck of it. how do i modify the velocity stacks? is there a write up somewhere? pics of how a modified v-stack looks like compared to a stock version? i searched under a few terms here and found nothing to what you are referring to.

that's because you're looking in the wrong forum. take a look at 600rr.net and poke around a little in the modifications section. you'll find it there. just remember, the mod will make your bike run much leaner, so a Custom mapped PCIII is required. nothing Dynojet has on the wedsite will work. basicly it's the stock V-Stacks, cut and seperated, and the tall V-Stack is replaced by a new short stack. just look, you'll see.

also, loud exhaust don't save lives. they might help with letting people know you're there, but if they can't see you chances are that they'll run right over you anyway, loud pipe or not.
