Default Oil light on

Would an aftermarket exhaust cause the oil light to turn on?

Only if installing it did something to the sensor or wire.

the current owner told me that he bought it like that from the previous owner. said it was bc of the exhaust.

Check the switch and the wiring. If that checks out, do a oil pressure test.

sounds like he doesn't know why it's on either. haha HIGHLY doubt an after market exhaust would have anything to do with oil. check the levels, check the wiring maybe try changing the oil. the oil light only goes on when i wheelie, so in other words lack of oil. in my opinion, and on my bike goodluck!

Aftermarket exhaust will not cause the oil light to come on on. There is something else going on with it.
