06 CBR 600RR reconstruction
So about 2 weeks ago, I sold my 1992 CBR 600 F2 for $2500 and bought myself an 06 CBR 600RR for $2300. It's a clean title bike with just over 5k original miles. The price reflects the amount of neglect the bike received from the original owner. Thus, I believe the pictures will explain more than words.
Anyhow, the engine and frame are in great condition! Rides straight and starts up every time. I feel like I'm missing something whenever I start it...the CHOKE lever! What I found particularly very interesting was the fact that my 1992 left hand toggle/switch looked almost identical. In fact, the choke lever from my F2 seems to look like it might easily fit on the 600RR because it seems as if there is a circular spacer to compensate for not having a choke! (I might slide a choke lever in there just for laughs).
Now to the business. My build is going to consist mainly of slapping on a bunch of parts to bring it back to it's pristine, unmodified state. That's the plan...slapping on a bunch of parts. Hopefully it goes as planned I've so far removed most of the rattle can paint on the engine covers and swing arm. But in the process of doing so, I had to remove the Unit Pro-Link decals and OEM Honda warning stickers I'll probably have to head down to the dealer to pick them up. I bet my money it's going to be like $20 a sticker...
Parts needed:
Clip on bars (Threw out the dirt bike style head assembly and bars)
OEM Triple tree clamp
Gauge cluster + mileage flash to 5k miles (Yes I have legal documentation to prove)
Full fairing kit
Front head light
Front fairing stay
Headlight wiring harness (OEM is too cut up and altered)
New foot rests( OEM was cracked and literally, ONE bolt held each side on)
Grips
Throttle tube
OEM decals
Overall it's going to cost me $1100 for everything. Not bad if I do the math. It'll mean that I bought an 06 CBR600RR with a clean title +5k miles for
$3400! I'm most likely flipping it for cash once I repair it for around 5 grand. I'm repairing and selling this bike to reach my goal...04/05 CBR1000RR!
Also, if anyone has fork reflectors for sale, let me know! Or any of the parts I listed for a great deal! I'm a college student on a tight budget!
Anyways, here are some pictures of my progress:
