Need guidance on used bike (56k warning)
Hey guys, Im looking to purchase a 2006 black CBR with 5K miles on it. The guy is asking 4200
as you can see theres a reason hes asking so low. I called him up and he told me that he let a buddy ride it and at a stop he was revving it, light turned green and the guy dumped the clutch..... bike flipped over landed on windshield and tank..
also he has a custom fender eliminator and exhaust on back
I havent seen the bike in person as i live an hour and a half away, but do you guys think the chance of the bike having serious mechanical issues is too great and i just shouldnt bother ? Though he did say he took it to a well known motorcycle dealer for inspection and they said nothing was wrong with it.
Its either this or an 05 636 with 7k miles. same price with just a broken mirror and fairing. (kawi just isnt as elegant though)
Heres to hoping i can join the forum as a legit CBR rider

pics kinda small... also what all needs to be replaced? obviously the windscreen.. post a bigger pic. with alil more info on damage.. id offer him 4k and take it. these are good bikes man you cant go wrong with it.. just look over the frame good. possible front fairing stay is bent. get a carbon one for like 100 bucks.. front cowl look decent? anything broken on it? headlights?

sorry didnt realize how small they were in previous post.
He made it sound like nothing other than windshield and mirrors would need replacing specifically saying " front is still in good shape".. He said the bike is running completely fine, he still rides it sometimes and has no trouble driving it on a military base. Does it look like the bike has been sitting outside for awhile by the color change of the plastic and rust ? He said its been garaged the guy sounded completely honest when explaining what happened to the bike but it does look like its been left outside. also he mentioned it has a brand new back tire.

as you can see in the pic, forks dont look out of alignment/bent from this angle and triple tree doesnt even have a scratch. Look at this upside down cbr, if it happened as he says, windshield and tank would in fact stop any direct impact from hitting handlebar and triple tree.. of course after it flipped it i would logically assume it slid on the floor.. no up close side pics as of yet...
since he still owes almost 7 grand on the bike he doesnt have the title under his name... he says with the money i pay and his income tax he will pay it off in front of me. he seems like an honest guy over the phone.. i will check it out and possibly buy it when his refund comes in.. thanks for the suggestions, everyone around me is telling me not to do it, but i just think the bike is so damn beautiful and at such a low cost (i offered him less then asking price)

I would want someone to say this to me. Don't do it. Seeming honest, and being honest are completly different.
The price, at least in my area, is not even that great. A dumped bike could be the same, but if he owes so much, maybe you should be asking yourself why he didn't take it to insurance? clearly no one wants to pay off a bike they don't own. (Your $ plus tax $?, just to get the bike paid off? That seems sketchy to me)
Also, the prospect of getting a bike is exciting, but fixing a broken one is not. (Plus the cost, which seems to be an issue for you)
Look at some examples in my area:

Hope this helps.
