Angry Leaking Oil... Again...

I have a 2009 CBR600RR which was leaking oil so I replaced the valve cover gasket and applied some honda bond. The bike sat for about 3 days and change so the Hondabond can cure perfectly.

I’ve ridden the bike for about 5 hours total since changing the gasket and there was no issue.

Today while riding the bike, I go over a speed bump relatively fast and heard a pop and saw white smoke, similar to what would happen with my bike when it first started to leak oil, before I replaced the valve cover gasket.

Being that the current valve cover gasket is new + there's some Hondabond on there, what do you guys think is the problem?

After I realize the bike was leaking oil (today and before I replaced the valve cover gasket), I drove about 5 minutes or so and the engine feels fine. There is just an oil leak. The bike didn't overheat or anything. I shut it down, turned it back on and it fired right up. There was no lights on the dash, no weird bogging or anything, etc. Just a lot of oil loss. I don't believe I over torqued the cylinder head cover being that I used a star pattern.

Thoughts as to what can be going on? Back pressure or something causing that pop sound and then white smoke? I believe the smoke comes from oil getting on the headers.

Hi and welcome to the forum. The pattern you used to tighten down the valve cover bolts does not indicate how tight you made them. You need a torque wrench for that. As for the leak, I'd get some soap and water and thoroughly wash the bike and engine. Nice and clean. Then go for a ride and then after check to see if you can determine the source of the leak.
