Default Just got a 2004 600RR, have some basic questions

Hi, I just got a 2004 600RR and after searching around these forums a while, and also around the internet, I still have a lot of grey areas about my bike and things related to it. Any help with the following would be appreciated!

1. Where do you guys buy parts? Are local dealers the best place or are there a few large sites that specialize in sportbike parts that you would recommend?

2. The guy I bought my bike from said it was -1/+2 sprocketed. This is a big concern of mine because it looks like they are wearing badly like he didnt do it right. If I were to buy a new set of chain and sprockets, what would you suggest? Same setup or something new? Any brand reccomendations? I noticed that alot of people recommend DID chains...what do you say?

3. I have a Micron carbon fiber slip on. What kind of performance gains would I get if I decided to get a full exhaust? Which ones are the best? Would you keep the slip on or get the full exhaust? Also where do you get the full setups?

4. I believe the stock tires are still on it and I will need some soon (bike has about 12k on it). It currently has Bridgestone Battlax BT012's (120/70 front and 180/55 rear). Would you buy the same thing to replace it or something else? I am keeping it for the streets so I don't need anything spectacular, just something that will handle decent and get good life out of it.

5. What kind of gains would you think you would see with the Micron carbon slip on that I have, a K&N filter and -1/+2 sprocketing? Any input here would be appreciated, I have a good idea of what to see here but I want to hear other opinions as well.

Thanks very much to anyone who replies, I have had mine a week and already love it! I will be putting up pictures and tutorials about whatever I do to the bike in the near future on my own personal website, and when I do I will post that here for all to see.

1) Parts 411, Kneedraggers.com... I usually don't goto one place, but just look for the best deal on the net that looks safe to buy from.

2) I would keep the -1/+2 and go with DID chain and Vortex sprockets. Maybe a 520 setup.

3) I hear that the gain isn't worth the money unless you are going to race the bike. You should have a Powercommander USB III too with exhaust change.

4) I love my Dunlop Qualifiers, but if I didn't use them, I would put on MPPs.

5) Don't know? but if your bike is running right, it would be funner than without.

There's no way stock battleax's got 12k miles out of them or they would show nothing but thread and no rubber hehe, but any metzler or other decent tire will do you fine.

first off welcome to the forum

there's no way those are stock tires with 12k on 'em. well, unless the previous owner never exceeded 30 mph for those 12k miles if you're basically doing street riding you're not going to need full exhaust set-up. advantages of have a full sys are mostly seen on the track. i'd keep the gearing the same - you have more low end grunt now but lose some top end. again, like you said you're riding mostly street so how often are you going to see top speed right?
