I was thinking of something else today and I know I should go get the book and start reading.
But, Im curious rightnow. lol

How do gears work on bikes?
I read in one of the forums about stopping that you can downshift on a bike in first and go 40.
I also read in another one that you can go 80 in first?
Which im sure that is when you are trying to push it and is not an all the time thing.
But how do the gears work?
I know in a Jeep 1st is like 0-25
Second is like 25-35ish
Third is 35-55ish

So im guessing a bike is not near the same.
I feel kind of dumb, haha im going get the book Friday.
It was just something on my mind.

never feel dumb for asking something you dont know. its worse to assume you know what your talking about and repeat it to others and look like a fool . and most bikes can easily do 60+ in 1st

So how does it work.
Does it mess the bike up going 60 in first?
Can that be an overload on that engine?

I feel the need to point out that you have some exposed paint on your hood. You should get that covered up with some good ol' dirt soon. I own jeep and an F4i and my wallet is not near big enough.

Ohh trust me, lol
I have pictures from mudding where the mud was 4 inches thick on the inside. lol
No top, No door's...good times! : )
What kind of Jeep do you have?
Yeah It is beginnning to look like my bike is getting pushed back more. IT SUCKS!
My clutch has been acting up, well today it went. I down have windshield wippers or a turning signal lever.
So I have to go pull a whole steering column out of a yard.

Ahh the money pits.lol
I still want the bike though. Hopefully I can find the one I want with a few mod's so I wont have to drop as much money.lol

No dumb questions here,

I know the '07 600rr can do 72mph at 15k rpms(redline) in 1st, 102mph in 2nd, 126mph in 3rd at redline. It is "possible" for the bike to godown into 1st at 40mphs .. but there has to be significant amount of rev matching in order to prevent the rear tire from locking up.(Not a good ideajust to do this for stopping). .. Going down the highway in 6th gear doing 65-75mphs the bike sitsbetween6 - 7k rpms from the factory. These engines are built for higher rpm's ...
