ok today i tried removing the tail section of my bike to fit an alarm. ifollowed the instuction on my service manual, but i couldn't get it off. it moved a little but wouldn't come off. maybe i was scared of breaking it?

any help would be great

 

Well, if you've got all the bolts removed, you should be able to remove it. you will end up bending or flexing some panels so make sure it's not uber cold out otherwise the plastic will snap.

 

You'll have to disconnect the bolts under the seat, the snaps from the triangle side pieces and then from under the seat. You will have to pull out the side panels a bit like knight stated.

 

dude grab the tail from the bottom one hand oneach side .. now spread her like you were getting ready to dive into a fat girl lol ...seriously though just spread it out and pull you might have to wiggle it out.. i just had to take mine off when i was changing my exhaust and i was also nervous, just take your time is should come right off i believe there are only four screws that actually hold it on ..

 

will try again tomorrow, i will keep in mind your expert advice about the "fat girl"

 

i just pished it to the one side and then bent the other side out till i get it off then then get it off the other side. from what i am reading u guys are bending both sides out at the same time. that would be vary scary if i was doing it. there is oneside that comes of real easy but i need to be taking it off to see becosue i dont remmeber.
