low side is when the tires just wash out from under you and you just land on the "low side" of the bike. high side is when the tires (usually just the rear, but can sometimes be both tires) lose traction, start to slide out from under youand then regain traction throwing the bike over onto it's "high side" and tossing your *** in the process.
