Default HELP - stock steering damper

I just bought an 07 600RR this week with 2800 miles. The steering damper doesn't seem to dampen any. I really haven't driven it yet, but sitting on it with engine idling, I can just whip the front side to side and feel nothing.

Looking for ANY input so I don't lose any sleep tonight on buying a bum bike.

????

^ what he said. the faster you go, the more it dampens. if your sitting still, there is no dampening, so actually its working perfect.

you can feel it in the handle bars when you brake hard too..kind of a different vibration, it's hard to explain.

cool, thanks for the replies. I have felt my friends damper before, but it was an adjustable add on, thus it worked while sitting still.
