Default steering damper

Does anyone know much about steering dampers?I would like to put a damper on my 89' but I couldn't find any kits for the 600F (big surprise) so I plan on designing and making my own custom mounts the only problem is that I have never realy looked at them up close to see how they actualy mount.
also I know they make piston type and rotary typeI was kinda leaning toward the piston type myself

They will slow down steering input, and their primary benefit is found on bikes which get their front wheels light or off the ground altogether under acceleration. They’ll help prevent you from turning the wheel while it’s light/off and thus produce a wiggle, wobble, or tank-slapper when the wheel is loaded up again

and its just another custom mod

wobble = [:'(]

at the time i had the stock frontend, it probably wasn't needed, probably.

but i've since swapped my frontend for a complete 600rr. now it is needed. and not because the frontend gets light. it is because the steering geometry changed.

if you look at dementedf3's pics, you will see a black side bracket. that is what comes with the hyperpro kit.

Before you spend god knows how much on a damper, and weld or drill into your frame contemplate this: Do you think these bikes wobbled when they rolled out of the factory-- nope. When I bought my Hurricane it would wobble at high speed. Anyways, turned out that I had a bias tire on the rear and a radial on the front. I got two new radial tires at the same profile and all problems went away. Heck, your problem could even be worse than that-- check your bearings too.

Putting a damper on would only be a half *** attempt at covering up something that needs to fixed right.
