Default Help me pick a bike

Ok, so I have 2 offers...

One guy is selling a 2003 RR for 3500. he says perfect condition... its about 3 hours away from where I live.

Another guy, acquaintance of mine locally. I don't really know him THAT well, hes a friend of a friend. He has a 2008 RR. I know he made it a street fighter (which im not a huge fan of) and stunted it, but only ever laid it over twice. He's gonna show it to me later tonight, and said he'd sell it for less than the 2003 im looking at...

Without seeing them, the 03 in perfect condition would be my choice of the 2.

Unless you want to learn to stunt, stay away from bikes that have been stunted.

It's odd to find a RR as a stunt bike as most stunters go with something like a F4i because of the low end torque. Without seeing pictures of both bikes it is hard to tell. It also depends on how much he will sell you the 08 for and what work needs to be done to it. If frame, forks, rims, rotors, swingarm, etc is all straight. If the engine covers are in good condition meaning he had a crash cage on the bike and all it really needs is new plastics and maybe some little things like a cluster, tail light or turn signals then I would say the 08 is the way to go. If the RR is in pretty bad shape then I say pass. Also it all depends on how much work you want to put into it.

This is what the 08 told me:

To make it stock? Lol. Chain, front and rear sprockets, rear brake assembly, headlights, fairings, about 2000 worth of work

He said I could have it for 2400

The 03 sold I'll just keep looking...

Keep lookin bro, way better to buy a bike that's ready ride on the road. New chain n sprockets means they're worn out, if its been stunted its been raced and will need rebuilt to road spec, which is ok if ya the time, cash flow n knowledge.

On the 08, the new sprockets doesn't mean they are worn out, it means he put a real tiny one up front and a giant one in the back to make it wheelie easier. It also means at cruising speed your running at like 11k rpm so you need to go back to stock gearing to make it rideable on the street.

As for the 05, what shape is it in? He says runs and rides great but says nothing about looks. If it's close to you go look at it. The more bikes you look at in person the more you know what you like and don't like and the more you know what to look for when buying a used bike.
