HELP...Bike wont hold charge!
I bought a used 03 600rr this winter. I kept a trickle charger on the battery all winter so I know it was charged. I took the bike out yesterday and rode it for about 45 min. I then got off at my house for about a half hour until I was going to leave again to go to my girlfriends house. when I attempted to start it the battery was to weak to turn the engine over. Thinking that the battery might be shot, I purchased a new one last night. Today I rode for about an hour and then same thing. I had to bump start the thing to get it home. Do you guys have any ideas of what it could be. It is really starting to irritate me considering I just spent $150 on a new battery. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (*after bump starting it I was able to ride it home about an hour away)

$150 for a battery is kind of high, usually in the $90 to $100 range.
Did you charge the battery before you started using it? Takes awhile for that. If you didn't... the bike doesn't start charging the battery until you're in the 5k RPM range. So if you're doing a lot of slow riding with high beam on... you're killing the battery. Be careful jump starting the bike. If you have to, only use the battery from the car... do not have the car running.

Looks like I got screwed on my battery then. Are you not suggesting bump starting it due to the fact that it can get away from you or for other damaging reasons. I live downtown chicago so during rush hour I am stuck under 5k alot. Should the battery drain that fast if you are sitting in traffic. I did have my high beams on so from now on I will keep them on low when in traffic. I just seems that the battery should drain like that.
