Default HEAT SHIELD???

whatsup guys im getting my yosh rs5 in tomorow and i was just wondering if the heat shield that covers up the mid pipe on the right side is important i have seen some pics with bikes without them and i like the look. will i have problems with heat.. buring my leg... thanks for the help

Its not really important. The only thing it really protects is yout leg. You still wont hit the pipe due to te rear set and the only thing it will really cause is warmth on your leg, as if you were keeping your legs next to the staror and clutch cover. As far as the bike goes, it wont hurt anything. So the onlything you really have toconsider ie heat on your leg. IT is brutally hot or anything of that sort, but there is a temp difference, but nothing unbareable.

thanks nick sounds good i deff like the look of the shiny pipe just wondering there seams to be a rubber hose" i thinkits a brake line" right near the pipe there are no issues with that melting on a long ride ??

Usually the air cools it off on a long ride, and disperses the heat back.

I used heat sleeve material from auto zone to protect my wiring, but the bolt you are talking about is only there for the heat shielding.

You won't have any problems with the brake hose, I've (and everyone I know who runs a 600rr) run my race bike without a heat shield for two years. Never once had a problem.

No! I havn't had mine on since day one. I like the shiny chrome look I have however burt some pants on it nothing big tho. To clean the pipe after the pant burning I just used stainless steal and is goo as new
