Default Headshake issue when engine braking and not holding the bars

I just bought an 06 600rr on Wednesday. I was out riding today and was coming up to a stop light. I let the bike just engine brake and I sat upright and let go of the grips to stretch a bit. About 5 seconds after I let go the bars starting moving back and forth quite a bit. I'd say it was a mini/mild tank slapper. Either way, it seriously affected my confidence on the bike and my riding was seriously off for the rest of the day.

As soon as I grabbed the bars the shaking stopped.

Any ideas what would cause this? The bike has 13k miles and is in pretty good shape (couple scratches here and there but doesn't look like its ever been down at any sort of speed)

do you only have one or none at all bar ends? i only have one right now due to a small low slide and mine do that every now and then.

Man, that is spot on. The bar end on the right grip is MIA. I'm going to order a new pair since the vibration is HORRIBLE

Would a heavier bar ends get rid of more vibration or should I just purchase the exact same one from a dealer?

Just get stock.

If you were at low speeds that could contribute to the instability of the bike.

Whatever you do, don't start grabbing the bars super hard. You want to be light on the bars in general. The more you fight them, the more unstable the bike can become.

+1 Nate....I had same problem when replacing bar ends with aftermarket...the order myself oem ones...heavy ones....boy what a difference!

I know this may sound silly but gripping your bars varies from rider to rider...but I've learn we should grip it like a golf clubs....if you never played golf, then it's like this...grip bars like you are hold on to a live bird that is wiggling in your palm. You want to grip it enough so bird won't fly away, but not too hard or else you'll suffocate/kill it.....damn...I'm beginning to sound cheesy..LOL... But it works!
