Default Fuel Additives?

Any one use some of those fuel additives such as STP or similar to "clean the injectors" or "remove gunk" from the inside of the engine. I have heard they work and I have heard the money would have been better spent on fuel. Anyone know anything on this or if there is one that seems to work better then others, or if they are all junk?

I've used Stabil fuel stabilizer in my fuel injected bike and carburated quad for the winter. I've not used any fuel injector cleaners in the bike, although I have used it in cars before. I couldn't really tell a difference.

Chevron techron has been recommended to me several times by mechanics. Motorcycle consumer news claims it works also which is a good sign. For $10 it is a good deal .

I was once told that a lot of those aren't really worth it and some even do more bad then good.

What I have been using and I have talked to other people about it, in fact I found out about it by Googling "alternative fuels", is 100% ACETONE. I use 100% acetone at a rate of 2 to 4 ounces per gallon. Acetone is a solvent and is the base of a lot of the cleaners out there. It also acts a s a lubricant for the gas passing threw lines and then enables the injectors or carbs to vaporize the gas, which is when gas really burns at its best and less for more power. If you light a cup of gas on fire it only burns on the top. But when you through it and oxygen mixes in it, it explodes. The more you can vaporize the gas, the lees is needed to make cleaner and more horse power.
I have been using it in my old CB750 and it has cleaned up a carbon problem and cleaned up the throttle response. I also use it in my 03 RAM 1500 pick up and that has really given me a bit more power and fuel economy, although I put my foot into it more.
Try a little at first(2oz) per gallon(do not spill on paint). I noticed it on the second and third tanks.
FYI Stay away from gas that has ethanol added.
Good Luck
Google "Acetone alternative"

Acetone can eat up o-rings in your fuel pump and injectors. I don't recommend it for bike applications. Most of the brand name gas stations add detergents to their fuel already. If ya just gotta add stuff to your fuel read the label and don't pour an entire bottle in the tank -- the stuff is usually good for 20 gallons.

Acetone is no good. You can use toulene or denatured alcohol as a additive with lube but it will only burn cleaner then regular gas and add some octane points. I used chevron techron fuel injector cleaner costco has a 4 pack for $8.99. My frined used it in his car often and when we took off the intake manifold it was actually clean and not built up like other cars i have seen. Others i talk to agree that it does help clean everything out just make sure you dont overdose it
