Default Front brakes locked up.

So the other day I rode to work about 30 miles. Got there without a hitch. Went to leave and noticed that the bike would not roll tried to move and nothing. Come to find out my front calipers were locked up. Got a wrench and bleed the pressure off and Limped it home. Now I'm wondering what the hell is going on the bike is a 07 cbr 600 rr with only 2000 miles on it. Bought the bike in the beginning of the summer with less then a 1000 miles on it. Not sure if the fluid was ever changed or not but am going to do that now along with lines and pads. Is there anything eles I should do? Has this happened to anyone? Sure glad it didn't happen on the highway.

Your caliper may have a seized piston? Which gets stuck and would not retract. Or maybe you have a warp disc rotor? But that's may seem odd.... scary issue here & best to have brake system thoroughly checks...

My guess is a stuck piston. If its a 07 with only 2k miles on it im guessing it sits a lot. So there is most likely a little bit of rust stopping the piston from retracting. Its a easy fix that you can do yourself.

If you need the know how let me know.

I was thinking something like that . Got the rebuild kit for both calipers (seeks and dust seals). Going to break them down this weekend and lightly sand the pistons to get off any surface rust.

I find it odd that both calipers would just lock up at the same time after being parked for a day. Did they both have pressure just sitting there? An internally collapsed brake line or a faulty master can keep pressure on both calipers.

Haven't added aftermarket levers? Common cause also.
