Default Frame sliders.

Has anyone seen a frame slider set up for a 2004 600rr that you don't have to cut out any of the fairing. I just got the bike painted and dont want to F it up. Im looking at making my own out of steel. Weld here weld there, bracket there and clamp there done, but i dont know bout the integrity of doing that. Thanks.

Frame sliders are placed where they are for a reason, (and made of nylon for a very good reason as well) I'd reccomend to just get a good set from a reputable company (Vortex looks good and are not ridiculously expensive)
Having to cut the fairings is one of the very few downsides to having a 03-06 600RR If your afraid to mess it up take it to a shop. most will do it for about $75 but it's a lot better than hacking together something untested by yourself and having it fail (possibly even digging into either your engine, or worse your flesh) at the moment you need it the most.

metal will catch on asphalt and flip the bike causing even more damage.

do your self a favor and drill. There are some great write up's on fram slider install's floating around the web. I did mine and very happy that I did.Don't go welding because i'm sure it will be more of a headache then a blessing. tools you need for doing your own sliders

12v cordless drill
1.5"- 2" hole saw bit
masking tape
clay

Give or take some items depending on the write up you find.
Good luck. When I get home i'll look for a write up, I can't now cuz i'm at work.

Default RE: Frame sliders.

I layed my bike down last year with the frame sliders i bought still in the box in my garage. It busted the lower case of the engine, not the cover but the engine itself. I WISH i had frame sliders. The bike is going back together this weekend and those sliders are going on for sure. Can anyone linke me a good write-up on the install??? It would be greatly appreciated

Thanks guys that helps alot. thanks for setting me strait. I am a handy man who likes to make everything myself. But i will definately get some vortecs.

By the way. I read that the easiest way to install frame sliders is to park your bike strait up and down on a stand, take off your fairing and set up a lazer set up ON some sort of stand so it is pointing strait on the motor mount.

Next without moving your bike or lazer, put your fairing back on and mark with a marker where the laser is pointing, and that is where you should drill. repeat on next side.

correct me anyone if i am wrong.
