RE: Financing for an 18 year old w/ co-signer
Well, I have limited credit history which includes one piece of jewlery that I financed for like two weeks, and my credit card..
I'm 19 with one accident and a speeding ticket.
I got financed through my credit union for 6.24% over 60 months for 6k bucks. Pretty damn good i'd like to think, and this is for an 04 CBR600rr with 2k miles.
You never know, just get to your bank or credit union, prove to them that you make enough and it won't be a financial strain to pay for the bike and it's possible to get the loan by yourself.
And as to those who say he should get a used bike, that's probably a wise idea. However, i'm in his same boat, this is my first bike.
There are those who have laid one down, and there are those who will. It's just a matter of time.
As for insurance, shop around. For full coverage i looked at progressive, geico, and esuarance. They all quoted me 1300 to 3000 a year for full coverage. I then got reffered to a local guy who was able to give me the adult rate when he insured my civic as well. I'm getting full coverage with a $1000 deductable on everything for 200/year.

I'm looking at the same problems, wanted to pay cash, but it didn't work out that way so I'm going to have to get a loan. 20 with very limited credit history. No late payments on the 1 card I do have, just got another one but applied to honda card and got denied. This blows I make plenty enough to pay for this

i know that if you have a lot of credit cards, even if you dont use them all people still look at that as credit you could use that might make you miss a payment on your loan from them. having more than one or two credit cards or high credit limitsis not a good thing unless you make lots of money. that is what i have been told

I can't pay cash because I have no way of even getting to work. Buying a bike will allow me to work more and make more money. But for now, I'm vehicle-less.

Get a used bike and pay cash you wont regret it.
