clutch question
hey all,
i just purchased a 07 cbr 600 rr and have a question how the clutch is supposed to work.
I know the basic formula for changing gears is let off throttle+engage clutch lever+and clutch pedal up.
However, it seems like my bike can shift into gears without engaing the clutch lever. That is, while cruising in 1st gear, if i lift up the clutch pedal to go into 2nd gear without touching the clutch lever, it still works.
Is this something normal? or is there something loose with the clutch?
Since this is my first bike and still learning about the bike, any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, that's normal. Clutchless shifting is possible in manual cars, too. If you continue with clutchless shifting, you'll want to make sure you're doing so smoothly, or you'll create unnecessary wear on the transmission. Let off the throttle slightly, shift up, and resume throttle. This should be done very quickly and almost simultaneously for best results. If it feels like it doesn't quite want to shift, don't force it and go back to square one.
My advice: Don't try it.... yet.
Get your shifting down with the clutch. You said you "know the basic formula for changing gears". But mastering the clutch will get you in tune with your bike, the engine and how to shift as smoothly as possible.
Once you got shifting to the point where its ice smooth, with no hesitations or jerks, clutchless shifting will be a cakewalk.

Not trying to thread jack, but I had a question about shifting myself; on my 1st-2nd shift, if I do it too fast sometimes (Maybe I'm not timing it right) the shifter kind of double-clicks and pushes back against my foot. The shift still occurs, but there's that fast "CLACK-CLACK" sound. Once in a blue moon it will end up in neutral too after the double click. Am I not shifting hard enough? Or am I re-engaging the clutch too early? That's all I can think of.
