cleaning carbon fiber?
Can anybody tell me the best way to clean carbon fiber body parts. I have heard that the clear coat scrathes really easily. I have also heard there is a special way to clean it but I dont know how. I would really appreciate the help thanks.
I have an orange RR so i dont have any carbon fiber parts. But i spend about 3 hours detailin the bike.. I use windex to trake dirt off. The 2001 leather cleaner to the seats and the black plastics and rims. Then i use mothers wax and wax the paint. Buff with a nice clean white cloth soft prefferebly. I use tire shine on the tires. When im done the bike shines better than the showroom. Esp with that orange meatallic paint. My buddy uses mothers on his carbon fiber M2 pipe and it looks good when hes done maybe you can do the same for your body parts.
wow man, don't EVER use tire shine on your tires! That's a big NO NO! You get into a turn and your gonna lay that puppy right down. Best thing to do if you need to have your tires pretty is to use some simple green on em. That tire shine will make em slicker than you want, trust me

No man i use tire shine on the side wall only not on the tread. I dont see the point in shinin the tread up its just gonna get dirty the first time it rolls.

seriously, that stuff will run onto the treads and you will know what it's like to "back it in" through a corner. it's like riding on ice. i use simple green or any other common degreaser on my rims and tires. they don't shine but they grip like glue.edit: forgot to answer the original question. use windex or any window cleaner on the carbon fiber with a soft cloth. that's what i use on my 2bros pipe to clean it up.
