RE: Chain preference
Stick with 525 (stock) size if you want it to last a little longer. you can still change the gearing and the chain is stronger than the 520 conversion DID sells these with the clip-on type master so you need no special tools and the clips are stong enough for 600's I've been using one since I bought the bike just changed the chain and went with the stock chain and clip-on -1/+2 no problems except I can't seem to keep the front on the ground just gotta have wheelies.
I'll probably catch hell for the clip-on thing but I like it cause I can switch out the sprockets and even add lenght at will if I decide to do any crazy stuff with the gears.

RE: Chain preference
Thanks for the help guys. I ended up going with a 525 Regina ZR series chain and sprocket kit in original gearing. I'm pretty pleased cuz I ended up getting both sprockets with the chain for the same price that most places were selling just the chain for. And I figured what the hell, as long as I'm ordering something I might as well get a tank protector and some chain lube while I'm at it.

RE: Chain preference
yea but mang...it's cheap cause you didn't do DID...
hopefully it's ok, but i've learned mah lessons...
as far as clip link, they fine as long as they are installed property, with the open clip end facing the back of the bike when the chain is on top. as far as lengthening the chain...you'll be running 2 master links...that is just unsafe...
