CBR 600RR 07 - FI Light Issues
Hello all,
I bought a used CBR 600 RR recently and need some help fixing its issue. The issue is that if I rev it to the point where the secondary injectors should come on, 5500+ rpm and 40% throttle (I think), the bike shuts off. Not sputtering but instantly shuts off. FI light blinks 16 times indicating Secondary Injector Failure.
To fix this I first added some cleaner to the fuel to hopefully remove any gunk from it being sat over the winter. No effect.
I then got the injectors cleaned out at a shop in case there was an issue there. No improvement.
I then started going through the manual to diagnose the issue. On pages 6-29 it has steps to take so I have done the following (in order from the manual):
1. Clear DTC and see if there is still the FI code. It was still present and I could not take a reading with an HDS so moved on.
2. Check the injector input voltage. All voltages read 12.5 volts
3. Checked the resistance of the injectors. All within spec
4. Checked injector signal line (33p at ECU to 2p at injector) for continuity. All injectors had continuity.
5. Checked injector signal line. If continuity is found there is a short in the line. I would get non-zero readings here on all injectors but no continuity beep so moved on.
At this point in the check, the ECU is in question. The past owner recently replaced the ECU with one off of another bike due to issues with the HESD. I am trying to get the old ECU to test if that ECU has issues with the injectors or not. This will let me determine if it is the new ECU or not. I have also checked the various fuses under the seat, replaced the battery, and checked that the battery charges when running. All seemed good. I also would not make note of what injector can from which spot when taking them in and out so it's unlikely the injectors for code 16 were constantly put back in the same spot. This makes me think the injectors are good or I would have got a different code.
Any help would be amazing. I am going insane over here and have not been able to ride the bike properly since I got it a month ago.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Based on what you describe, it does seem to point to the ECM. Does seem suspect that the ECM had been replaced in the past. You haven't mixed injectors between primary and secondary right? Haven't worked on this model, so don't know if they are physically different. They do have different part numbers though.
No sir haven't switched between primary and secondary injectors. The error code 16 says no 1 secondary injector malfunction so only have been focusing on the secondary injectors. I could have switched the secondary injectors around unintentionally when working on it and this leads me to believe ecu as well since it's unlikely it would not change from code 16 to code 17 (no 1 and no 2 secondary injectors) when I was doing this.
That is my thinking as well but that is annoying since the part is 200ish and if it turns out it is not my ECU then well I have 2 ECU's. Might be the only real option I have. Was hoping I could find someone local that would let me swap them to test but so far no luck.
