Keep the weight off your wrists. Do not lock your elbows.
Look where you want to go, especially in curves. If you are looking at that small pothole in the road, chances are, you will hit it.
Try to keep your weight on the outside peg when turning. For example, if you are making a sharp left turn, try to keep most of your weight on your right footpeg.
Never assume anything about the road you are on, even if its a familiar one. You never know if your favorite curve now has some road-kill or loose gravel on it. I have heard about too many addidents caused by loose gravel that "wasn't there last week".
