Default Best Riding Tips/Pointers/Advice

Pros,noobs, and smartasses welcome.

General riding tips, things to watch out for, or any sound advice should be posted here.
The learning curve on these bikes are pretty steep, so any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Tang~

Slow down / stop with brakes. Don't drive beyond your abilities. Gear is not a luxury.

stay within your limits at all times and use 150% of your vision...apparently we are invisible to 95% of the other traffic on the road.

use the rear brake too, not just the front

and DOWNSHIFT when coming to a stop so if it turns green you can just go, and so you are ultilizing the engine braking..

Keep the weight off your wrists. Do not lock your elbows.

Look where you want to go, especially in curves. If you are looking at that small pothole in the road, chances are, you will hit it.

Try to keep your weight on the outside peg when turning. For example, if you are making a sharp left turn, try to keep most of your weight on your right footpeg.

Never assume anything about the road you are on, even if its a familiar one. You never know if your favorite curve now has some road-kill or loose gravel on it. I have heard about too many addidents caused by loose gravel that "wasn't there last week".

You don't have to prove anything to anyone, so ride within your own limits.
