RE: beginner
Thanks for all the advice guys. I totally understand what you guys are saying about the f4i, but my heart is completely set on a black RR.
I'm hoping that as I am willing to pay more than half the bike in cash at a dealership (if I don't find any private sellers), I won't be too screwed over with interest. After all, I'm hoping to have the bike paid off by September (purchasing in June).

the RR is a completely different animal jjeeff... it revvs quicker and higher. i don't know how much riding experience you have, but if MSF and riding your friends bikes is all you have got under you, PLEASE consider a different bike... you learn bad motorcycling habits by starting your riding life on a bike that has as extreme a geometry as the RR. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reconsider...

ugh.... knightslugger, care to elaborate on the riding habits portion of your post? I just purchased the bike in question as a first ride, more for a quick flip financial gain than a personal rider ( details in my post in the OT section ) . I am in love with the thing and have barely ridden it. Maybe you can sway me to sell it and down grade like I originally intended? Sorry to thread jack...

In hind site, I would recommend getting an F4i. As a fellow noob, I can assure you we won't be using the extra performance unless you keep the bike for a long time and track it. The softer seat and less aggressive position are a huge plus for the F4i (IMO). Also, the F4i is cheaper!

If you've ridden before and have some self-discipline, a 600RR will be fine. Learn the bike and take it easy for a while to get used to it.........again, they are potent for being 600's....but then again, they're no liter-bikes either.......so they're not entirely impossible for new riders to handle and be safe on......though, they just aren't always the logical choice in the matter.
But if you've ridden before like you said and have taken the MSF courses, you'll be fine getting the 600RR. Get what you want, because paying for something you don't want is never fun.
Let us know what you get man, AND POST PICS! I don't like people who say "I got a new one" and don't post pics. I always feel like eSmacking them.

I'd go with the RR myself since thats what I have now & its my 1st bike. But like the gentlemen before have stated, you must RESPECT its power. You practice safe riding techniques @ all times you will learn as I have & I'm still learning. I plan to try some beginner level track days this summer to hopefully learn more how to ride & be a better/safer rider. GOOD luck & safe riding!!!

RE: beginner
I'll be honest I am a noob i just recently bought my 06 600rr 3 days ago and i started to learn on all my friends bikes at work during our off time. But I am very hesistant about taking it on the road. Hell I even had my friend drive it home one night just because when I was driving on the back stretch I knew how one slip could change everything. But I am getting comfortable with the bike. I think just after having it for a couple days and actually driving it down some back stretches and practicing turns and everything that it's a great 1st bike if you actually respect it. Trust me if your a person like me and usually like to go floor it on 4 wheels then 2 wheels will put you in your place completely that's why i like my RR. She keeps me in my place. I've been told what she can do but I don't have the experience to push her so I'll ride her how i feel comfortable. I mean i've ridden a gsxr 750my boys ninja and my other boys cheesey lil yamaha. They all have their perks. and to be honest i wanted a 07 gsxr 600 but it was too expensive so i went with the 06 RR cause of the price and it's comfortable riding position (mind you i work in cars all day and typically crammed in a trunk for hours at a time).

RE: beginner
welcome to the board and may i suggest an RR over an R6. bikes do tend to be pricey, and just like you, my budget is not that big which is why i went with a used bike. you will save money and just like buying a used car, get a feel for how the seller is, and the vibes you get when taking it for a test drive, and looking it over and asking questions to the seller.
if you have a loan, you will have to get full coverage, almost all insurance companies expect that so factor that into insurance costs.
best of luck with buying a bike and make sure you look around alot before settling on a bike, there are alot of deals and alot of frauds out there.
