just because the 600rr doesnt do a wheelie which a lil flick of the wrist doesnt mean its not a sensitive bike. My friend went down at 10mph, im not sure how much slower he could've gone, he is one guy who wanted it because its a cool looking bike. Sure now it looks cool with his whole right side scraped up.(we're fixing it this week) Anybody can learn on any bike, its true, ive had friends learn on liter bikes and they did fine, but when riding with them they cant keep up because they are still afraid of it. Id rather be the fastest guy on a slow bike than the slowest guy on a fast bike. The only reason he wants the rr is because it looks cool. Right there is the key reason not to get it. The main reason not to get a 600rr as a first bike is not when he rides it, its when he gets into trouble and he panics and nails the throttle.

i started out on an 07 cbr 600rr and im glad that is the first street bike ive ever owned. now i have been riding dirt bikes and 4 wheelers all my life so i do have some experience in riding, but im glad i picked the 600rr for a first bike, it handles like a dream and it will only go as fast as i want it to. its all about self control and what you think/what you know you can handle. i thought about getting a smaller bike but then go to thinking that i would probably outgrow it in a couple of weeks and want something with more power but be tied up in a payment plan that i couldnt get out of. its all about what you think that you can handle. i hope this helped you out a little bit with your decision.

 

My 600rr is nasty, when I get on it in first it pulls the front wheel, not looping but its hovering which has almost put me in a tankslapper multiple times. When I slam into 2cd gear the front comes back up as well. Maybe thats just my rr, seems to be faster than others. Definitely not as safe as the f4 for the above stated reason. BUT, with some major self control it will be as tame as you want it.

 

Yep. Although, I was put into a tank-slapper once. (SCARY s**t!) I was accelerating hard, hit a rough patch in the road, and boom.........tank slapper out of nowhere. Just about ripped the handlebars from my hands (thanks MSF course for teaching me what to do in that situation!!!). I Just about s**t my pants, and had to pull over and take a breather after that one.

I call that road "b***h" every-time I see it now.

 

Anybody want a 07 CBR 600RR? Just kidding, but you guys are scaring me! Just bought it about 2 weeks ago and yes, it's my first bike. I'm glad this topic came up and I was able to read all the horror stories/scenarios that put me back to reality. I've been riding dirtbikes for about 4yrs so I have experience on motorcycles, but my cofidence level on the 600 was starting to scare me and this is just what I needed.
As far as getting one for your first bike, I'd have to listen to the boys above and their expeiences. I bought the 600 because I knew if I didn't, I'd want something bigger in about a month.
