Default battery problems

hey biker friends,
my battery is acting up. after the winter season the battery was a lil weak so i would jump start the bike but then i charged it fully and i work fine for a few days the on the way to work i turned of the bike at a ligth but left the ignition on, when the light turned green i tried starting my bike but no luck, i had to jump start it which sucked. any ways i check the voltage and it reads 12.4 volts but the bike still won't start unless i hook it up to a charger. does this mean my battery is done? and how good are these batteries anyway? please help.
p.s. if i need a new battery anyone know where i could get one for cheap around maryland they want $125

Get a Battery Tender, it is the best battery charger. Set it up over night and you should be fine.Try not to jump start your battery, the sudden high voltage from jump starting will decrease you battery life.

Your battery may not be the problem. Charge it up and try this (you may need to adjust some readings for your bike):

i was told not to jump start your bike with a car. And also i had some problems with my bat after this winter, but took it to a bike shop to have him test it and he said it was holding charge fine. Funny thing was i took it to advanced auto(generic auto parts store) and had them test it 2 days earlier and they said it was bad. I was told some battery chargers would say that they are charged, but they really wouldn't be completely charged. Worth checking into because the new battety for the 600rr is around 102(yuausa brand) 140(honda brand), but thats my dealer.

I just bought a new battery at advance for 65 that will work. As long as the battery hight and width matches, and the posts it will work. If it is a 12volt battery.
