I love this thread!

I was in town(pretty big city)going down the main strip. I see this really hot chick coming up next to me so I start to check her out.... I look back to the road and sure enough I've got a yellow light... and not enough time to stop or downshift... The bike comes to a complete stop halfway through the intersection and stalls in 4th... in rush hour traffic... I try to roll the bike back and forth totry and get it into neutral... and start it and ride off into the next entrance off the road... I felt like an idoit...

needless to say... I don't stop for yellows anymore... I'd rather pay the ticket...

and 1 more for ya...

So yesterday I'm out riding my bike. I'm in the middle of town in rush hour traffic. I get into the turn lane and come up as the first person in the turn lane. I wait for my cycle of lights... and my turn light doesn't go green... then the next cycle... nothing... the people behind me start cursing me and honking their horns...

I finally realized I was too far off to the side and the sensor couldn't pick up my bike in the turn lane...

I think I've made quite a few enemies in my town already...

I was thinking to myself over the last 2 days about the pants getting caught thing and wondering how often this happens, its been my fear before I had my own bike, kinda weird... I have seen a few bicycle riders get their clip in shoes stuck and fall over though... priceless.

This las weekend Iwas ridin with a couple of buddies and im not gonna lie we werent going the speed limit. We were comin up on an exit and a car comes from three lanes across and cuts me off, i try to avoid hitting her(succesful) and i get on the brakes a little to hard and my front tire locks up, i lose control and lay my bike down. She didnt even stop, probably didn't even see but i was still pissed.

Good stories..

I've only had my bike for a week and the second day I dropped it. But it gets worse. I was pulling my bike out, and prior to that I had to rev up the engine for all the people having a BBQ, about 15 people(only bike in the dorms). Well, I probably should'nt have been riding the bike anyways. My leg was sprained from weightlifting a few weeks ago. As I was backing out, my left leg just gave out. Fortunately.. there was only one tiny little paintscratch, because my leg took 90% of the damage. And then to top things off, Itried to liftthe bike up and completely failed, proving once again to the people I know how much of a moron I am.Pretty much end of story, some guys helped me pick it up, and I just rode out disgruntled not making eye contact with my mirrored visor. Sigh.

Earlier in the post there were some of you that said to drop the bike in the grass. What is the purpose of this? Is it to practice picking it up by yourself?

If so, is picking it up by yourself really hard? I weigh about 150 mostly muscle (used to weigh 135 and started working out so hopefully its true) will I have trouble picking up a bike?

It really depends man. I weigh about 175 and do hit the gym on a near daily basis, but when I dropped my bike my leg was messed up. When you pick it up make sure to use your legs mostly.. it's like deadlifting but more ackward like. My bike weighs 360lbs.. so since your hitting the gym through in some leg work outs (if your notalready doing it). Odds are you wont drop your bike.. (I'm a noob but thats just my assumption).

ummmmm, if your leg is in bad enough condition that you can't hold your bike up you probably shouldn't be riding or doing deadlifts. I would think paying attention would keep you from dropping your bike not hitting the gym. I've seen 105lb women ride bikes, stop at lights, and not drop it. Pretty sure they can't lift the bike up or deadlift 360lbs. All I'm saying is i don't see any logic in this at all. This is like saying if you swim alot you won't ever drown.

he was responding to my question, will i be able to pick up a bike if i drop it? of course i dont want to drop it, but if i ever do (and according to this thread, its a huge possibility), i want to be sure that i can pick it up by myself.

The reason people drop their bikes in the grass is not to practice picking it up... lol!! It is to get rid of the inevitable of dropping it on pavement. Got to shake those deamons some how. I cant wait to get my paintjob fixed from doing that.

And i dont really think you would have a problem with that. I only bench 2X45 lbs. + 2X25's. and weigh 195 lbs. I dont think it is too hard. I had to do it 3 times allready. lol once i didn't have fairings on it and i was powersliding around my house. Really fun by the way. if you take all your fairings off i would recomend it. lol.. Anyways... Just when you are picking it up make sure to have your front brake on. I find it helps. I'm a pro bike picker upper. lol.
