Last weekend i was cruisin' down the expwy on the 600rr with my gf on her honda shadow, we come up to a toll booth and my IPASS transponder wouldnt work, so im waving it in the air back and forth like crazy and nothing. so my gf gets impatient and scoots up and her transponder works gate goes up she blows by me, so i hurry slap the IPASS in my tank (suction cups) drop the clutch to take off. as im pulling away, out of the corner of my eye i see the gate comin down, i stopped the bike just in time to have the gate land between my windscreen and my elbows. 3 more inches and it would have smacked me right in the face. Now i'v got about 15 cages behind me honkin' and the booth guy just stares me down for at least a min befor he opns it and i couldnt move. What an A$$HOLE.

I think I would have broken the arm if it came that close to hitting me and the a-hole just looked at me. Most of the garages I've been to.... bikes don't weigh enough to trip the sensors and the clerks come out and move the arm for me.

i was sitting in my garage working on my chain, all my buds are there and my mom and dad and my girlfriend. i wanted to lift the bike up straight to check the tension so i thought well it wouldnt hurt to just stand it up holding the back wheel, while sitting on my butt behind the bike. well needless to say she went over to far and down she came, everyone laughed at me and i felt like crap. the end LOL

Well id just like to let you all know. I am new to riding been doing it about 3 weeks and twice now i have parked and started getting off when i realized something dont feel right. Lucky me i have read SO MANY people forgetting about kickstands i knew thats what it was. stopped it early enough both times. My buddy told me the best way to prevent this is get in the habit of cutting your bikes engine by keeping it in gear and kicking the stand down to kill it. I also bought a keychain with custom lettering that says "kickstand DUH!"

ORIGINAL: doncollins

Leaving from work today, Friday traffic on a naval base (the largest naval base in the world) with tons of traffic around me, a fire truck passes us going in the opposite direction and traffic comes to a sudden stop. That’s not really my mistake yet. I have a habit of balancing as long as I can when stopping before putting a foot down. When I went to move my foot, it was stuck. My pants leg was over the heel guard and held me in place long enough to fall over. Talk about embarrassing moments. Lucky for me, I installed a set of vortex frame sliders a few weeks back and they did the trick. All I got was a scuff on the bottom of the puck. I had to turn the key off and back on to reset the safety so I could start it back up. So I’ve shared my “to date most embarrassing moment”… what’s yours?
that sux...you gotta be real careful w/ that good thing you had those frame sliders!! they're the first thing i put on my bike!! i always make sure i tuck in my laces and try to wear pants that don't flare out to much cuz they will catch, i've done it and so has my hubby, he actually does the same thing trying to balance all the time...catches up to ya though huh...haha j/k no, but i'd try to tuck your pants in if they flare out from you ankle to much, it'll save ya some day.

my most embaracing moments would have to be when i first started riding and didn't even have my own bike yet. was riding my hubby's bike up and down a dead end street at prolly 15-20mph at the time, i was wearing a tank top and a bug landed on my arm, i let go of the bars to swat it off my shoulder and just kinda fell over...haha my hubby has never let me live it down (he brought it up the other day...this happend 6 years ago! lol)

well i have my crash story as a seperate topic so if u want you can look at that. But i had another close call before. i was just on a side streat ,i stopped at a stop sign and im about to go right, but i had it in nuetral,so i catch the biek with my right foot and it takes all of my strength to stand it back up from like a 45 degree angle.

a story of my friends... First time he ever got on a bike,it was a friends. he got on,kicked out the kckstand,. hids foot slipped on some rocks or something and just fell down in slow motion. Bike had no damage beause mirror was already scratched an he put his leg under to save the bike. so he got lucky that way, but needless to say we never let him come close to any of our bikes again, haha. he has his own now though.

After a couple months of riding I was returning home from the gym and was coming up to a right hand turn at an intersection. The light was red for me, but there was no traffic going the other way, so I figure I would slow down, check traffic and perform a california rolling stop at the light. Just as I'm starting to turn, I notice a police cruiser coming down. I panicked and jammed on the brakes, fearing the cop would bust me for not coming to a complete stop at the light. Unfortunately, the road was slightly curved at the side and my front wheel was turned when I jammed on the brake, and the bike began to tip over. I tried my best to keep it up (I had a couple of scares before, but was always able to keep it up), but this time it wasn't going for me. I slowly laid it down and could hear scraping noises as she went down. I jumped off, pulled it back up, moved out of the way for the cars behind me to go, and started up my bike as the police officer came around behind me. I rode off and the officer followed me for half a block before I had to make a turn. I later caught up to an SUV that was behind me when I dropped it, and everyone in it was staring at me at the next light like I was goon.

Even before that, I had just got my bike and wanted to ride it to get a feel for it. My friends were going to a fast food place drivethrough, so I decided to follow. I parked my bike and waited for them to get their food (it was a long wait since it was in the middle of the night). Finally they got their food and went, and when I started up my bike and shifted into first, the bike would shut off. I sat there in the parking lot starting and stalling my bike for about 5 minutes, my friends long gone, and everybody else in the drivethrough staring at me because I couldn't figure out that my kickstand was still down. I felt pretty stupid after that...

I was at a stoplight with both feet down and my bike in neutral

Light turned green... so I put both feet up and shifted my weight forward .... BUT I forgot I was in Neutral.

I slowly tipped over.
