ABS Opinions
#2
I am no expert, but from what i have heard the track performance testers (usually motorcycle racers) say that they take away from the performance, especially when trying to break before turns... the nose of the bike doesnt slam down like it used to reducing the weight toward the front. however, for all of the "normal" riders out there, the small drop of in performance is worth the added safety. i know i've had to come to a few rapid stops before and it is scary trying to slam on the breaks without locking them up. the only 2009 that was available did not have abs at my dealership, so i bought non-abs, but would have gone abs in a heart beat. id be willing to sacrafice fractions of a second off a run around a track for the added day-to-day safety.
just my opinion.

Under 99% of riding the brakes feel normal and stop great wet or dry. Haven't hit a sandy stop yet. Just over 1,000 miles. Only odd thing is when I am coming to a stop sign/light if I am on the brake and then slack off for a sec (to coast a bit farther) then re-apply the brake it drops in closer to the grip before the same amount of braking pressure is applied.
Dealer just called me after speaking to Honda. Honda claims after coming to a stop if you ride away at less than 7 mph and stop again then the lever is softer. Per Honda it is normal on CBR600 and 1000 ABS models.
