+/- 800 Mile Ride Next Week
yeah...cramp busters do work but i wouldn't recommend on the twistys...
make sure you break in your leathers before a long trip, check your tires condition, bring emergency tire repair kit, rain suit and plan the route for rest stops and most importantly gas stops...my magic number was 130 miles...
Oh! and bring camera...take lotsa pictures for us...

I did a 2 hour ride tonight after work from 6:30 til 8:30 with the leathers. They seemed to be fine, actually my shirt stayed pretty dry from the airflow through the perforations. Was surprised. I rode for an hour up through the twisties and stopped for a bottle of water and then back home again.
I tried on the cramp buster at the store but it is too wide and gets in the way of my hand.
If weather is good next week I will be going.

I asked the local Cycle Gear store to get the tourmaster tail and saddle sport bags for me. I wan to see how well they fit the bike. I plan on taking my laptop, so I can keep you posted during the trip. After last night's ride, I definatley need something in the ears to take the sound away, I couldn't hear anything after I got home.
I'm a bit hesitant to listen to music while riding, any thoughts on this?

I just wear ear plugs and sing to myself if I get bored... I like the road so I don't often get bored... and I only sing on the freeway when I know others can't hear
Music - if you want to go this route get some really good headphones - or a helmet speaker and still wear ear plugs. I think you'll find that earplugs mostly block the noise, not the sounds. That comment might make more sense after a ride on the freeway with ear plugs - buy a box of 30 from your local pharmacy. They're cheap. I like the foam ones that expand - roll them between your fingers until they form a narrow rod, stick them in gently, hold them gently in place with your finger until they expand and hold themselves in place. Don't put them in too deep - that will hurt. Don't put them in so shallowly they feel like they'll fall out. Test and see.
Woot.

on a hot days...i wear an under armour type long sleeve shirt inside my leathers...Walmart has a cheaper ones...they work just fine...they will keep you cooler and easier access to get in and out...
cramp busters will feel weird but you'll get used to it quickly...keep using it...
as far as the music...i myself rarely listens to the music cuz my Suomy is way too loud...and I don't like distractions when i'm riding...
but you're going on a such long trip...why not?...
try both ear plugs and ear phones and see which one you like or switch it off...
