Heres a pic of the two bolts sticking out of the bottom. I added a washer and lock nut to each to ensure they wont come loose. (Note, this picture is before i tightened them! lol)

The plate mount will now mount onto the two screws. Again, i added my own washers and lock nuts just to be sure. The LED plate light attaches with a piece of double-stick tape that is already on the light. Then run the wire up into the tail. I found a hole right under the fuse box/battery tray that the wire fit through perfectly.

That is very nice mang, I have one suggestion tho. i think it would look super awsome if you Powdercoated the Fuel Cover black, I know a couple of buddies that run a PC shop and they do an excellent job and cheap prices, Mine is getting done as I type, cant wait to get it back[8D]

At this point, i wired up the taillight and plate light.

Some things i noticed:

-The stock wiring clip and clip on the new taillight didn't fit together very well. I opted to cut the connectors off and just splice them together.
-The plate light gets wired into the positive and negative wires for the taillight. There is no seperate clip for the plate light like on previous models
-The resistors get wired in between the postive and negative loops for the signals. Harness clips are provided for this.
- I left as much extra wiring as possible, because i wasn't sure where i was gonna tuck it all away at. Worked out fine in the end.

 

Next comes the cutting...lol Here's what the rear plastic looks like to start with:

Here's how the kit instructions tell you to cut the plastic: (all you need is a good razor)

However, i found that cutting the tail like the directions tell you kept the taillight from sitting the way i liked...the edge of the light actually rested on top of the bolt, and nothing else lined up very well. So, i went out on a limb and cut it like this:

I used a piece of high-temp double sided tape on the heat shield bracket in place of the bolt. It worked really well, and allowed the clearances to fit better.

 

Next, fit the taillight into the tail fairing. It doesn't fit EXACTLY, and it will have about a 1/4 inch gap at the end, but you cannot see it when it's installed. Also, i'm pretty sure you can send it to Tripage and he'll shave it down if you want a perfect fit.

The kit comes with two mounting clips to secure the light. Slide the clips on and tighten them down with the 2 nuts (green arrows). Then position the light how you want it, and use the self tapping screws to secure it to the plastic tray (red arrows). Also note the blue arrow is where the bolt would have been if i had cut the plastic tray the way the instructions indicated.

Tuck the wires away and you're done! Some things to consider:

-The new taillight slightly changes the roundness of your tail. You can't see it with your eyes, but it makes putting the rear seat or cowl on a little bit tighter. I had to adjust my cowl clearance screws in order to get it to fit right.

-All of the other people that i've seen with this mod have removed the exhaust cap because they said that it partially blocked part of the light. I left it on, and it doesn't seem to get in the way at all...might just be my bike.
