I ordered a taillight/plate assembly off of ebay....$149 It's basically the CA taillight shaved down to fit, plus a new plate mount and taglight. Havin problems with USPS, of course. They say that they have my package and it's somewhere, they just don't know where.

Great thread...I have the same bike...When are you expecting your pipe?...I am really thinking about getting the Jardine slip on, just can't see paying $600 for something that i already have.

Hey hey hey...i'm back. Got the taillight and plate mount in finally, so here we go.

Ordered the kit off of ebay....$140. A little high for my liking, but my fiance bought it for me, so oh well. Comes with a stock 03-06 Clear alternatives light, plate mount, plate light, and hardware and instructions.

Start by removing the tail fairing, undoing the four bolts holding the tail kit on, unplugging the taillight, and cutting the turn signal wires so you have plenty of extra wiring. You'll then have your bare tail:

Your next step will be to install the plate mount. Undo the two bolts by the fuse box, and remove them. Use the two long bolts provided to replace them. The longer bolt goes on the left. There are four nuts for this part: 2 to secure the fuse box cover on the bottom, and two more to secure the plate mount.
