-2 front sprocket

Default -2 front sprocket

my friend has an R1 and he changed his front sprocket to a -2 in front....so on my 05 600rr i went to honda to order a -2 and the only way i could even do it is if i get a different chain...and no one even talks about a -2 on a cbr...is this something that just doesnt happen or what?

Needing a new chain when you re-gear is pretty much required.

Edit: Why -2?

idk it just seemed easier since im already there anyways to just pop on a 14 and b done w/ it

and they wanted me to go to a 520 chain to do the 14 tooth sprocket

lol but i dont want to buy a new chain yet and i have np w/ my 525 i just want a -2 front sprocket...is this an unsafe sprocket size for the cbr's?

Its a little on the small side, the 520 would help a bit to make that sharp a turn. As far as reliability and wear you would be much better off going -1 front and +2 rear, but obviously that would cost more.

going any more than -1 in the front is gonna cause too much tension on your chain..its known to cause chains to snap. if you do it it is very dangerous, can brake ankles and legs, can flip your bike, and cause lots of damage.

just go -1 +2 or -1, +something variation

-1 int eh front is about +2.76 in the back, so just bump your back up instead

i have been lookin for a couple days now and cant find anyone who sells a 525 14 tooth front sprocket ..so that males sense ...ill ust pop the 15 tooth on for now and in 4k miles when i replace my rear tire again ill think about a new 525 and +2 rear sprocket thanks for the info

i just got off the phone w/ my friend and he had 17/45 gearin originally so he was able to go -2 in front due to the fact it was only making it 15/45 ...so im gonna roll w/ a -1 until i change tires again and prolly go +2 rear and a new chain
