1st time - Front wheel of the ground??
Hi, I've had my 600rr for 4 weeks now from new - covered about 1500 miles - all very steady and safe!! I'm now starting to open her up in 1st, 2nd and 3rd - shifting at about 12500rpm. In 1st and second the front wheel is almost about to come up. I don't yet have the experience to pull back on that throttle to lift it off the ground a couple of inches - how hard is that?? Can I just close the throttle very slightly to put the wheel back on the deck after lifting it a couple of inches or will all hell break loose????
What are your first experiences of this??

get a steering dampner... and youll be fine just dont panic. if you really start to get that wheel high tap your rear brake. but if you come down hard your steering might get a lil squrily and thats pretty scarey. but if you just ease off the throttle you should be able to set it down smoothly.

+1 on the Steering Damper. If you are going to be doing this or any type of hard riding get one of these. You do need to watch out when you come down. If you come down with your front wheel not so straight ..this could put you into a "tank slapper" and those are never fun. Also like someone before me said ..cover your rear brake ... if you go up to high just tap the rear brake to bring you back down.
Yes, to put her back on the "deck" when the front is just a couple inches off the ground you can ease off the throttle and it will set back down.
On my stock '07 under WOT (wide open throttle) and my weight a little further back then what it should be ... I've only experienced the front wheel slowly pulling off the ground about a foot total, starting around 12k and going til I shift at around 14.5. When I shift from 1st to 2nd at around 14.5k the front wheel usually comes up around 1.5 - 2 feet.
