Default 1st gear problem

The other day i was riding...cruising at about 30 coming up to an intersection to take a left into my subdivision...well as i was downshifting to put the bike into neutral...the green lite wouldnt come on..so i tried to take it down all the way into first and nothing?.........so ultimately i kill the motor and i try it again and then it works...has ne1 ever had ne such issue

Sometimes the gears/clutch get sticky, especially if you pull the clutch all the way in. Just release the clutch a little and then try to put it into first. You don't have to pull the clutch all the way in when shifting gears.

Also, I'm not sure exactly if you're doing this, but you'd probably want to come to a complete stop first before you put in into neutral. Don't cruise to a stop in neutral.

Due to motorcycle transmissions being a static tranny, the gears weren't matched up, so they won't mesh together...usually all you have to do is release the clutch and that should take care of it. Also, don't go down a bunch of gears with the clutch pulled in either, it will cause the clutch to wear quicker and you'll have that meshing issue a lot more...try blipping the throttle to down shift or going down a gear at a time.
