Default $172 to keep my warranty?

So today I decided that im not going to pay for a 600 mi inspection cause it costs $172 at the stealership that I baught my 06 from, so i ride up to the dealer after work today go in buy oil/filter, chain lube etc. spent about 40 bucks not too bad conidering I saved $130. As im starting up my bike the salesman that sold me the bike comes up asks me what i was doin so i told him getting stuff to do the maintenance my self. Now he says that i MUST have the dealer do it or i lose my warranty. Now, is this one of those salesman head games or is he telling the truth? does anyone the facts out there?

He's bullshytin' dog.

Check your owner's manual. It clearly states that you can do your own maintenance. I would quote it, but it is in the garage. There was actually a post on this very subject, do a search 'cause it was posted within the past month or two.

I've been doing my own service since day one and I have 4100 miles on my 2006. My stealership wanted to charge me $157 for the initial service. I'm with you f-ck that.

+1. it's in the manual. Some people are stupid. Some are thiefs. You can decided for yourself about the salesman.

they are full of SH*t! I looked for the thread on this as it had the page # in the manual I but couldn't find the thread.

It states that you can do your own work, so does the 5 year exteneded warranty paperwork! I personally looked this up myself. Sounds like your salesguy is an idot.

Tell them to suck it.
