FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH A WARRANTY !!! Need Help
Hey Guys,
I bought a 2004 CBR 600RR with 5,700 miles. It had the 3 year extended warranty plus the original 1 year warranty totallying 4 Years. Just wondering. When should I have it serviced ? I can do the oil, coolant, clean/lube, but I mean, overall, how should the service go ???
FOR INSTANCE:
500 Mile Service
3000 Miles Service
6000 Miles Service
12000 Miles Service
I just made those up. I need to know what the manual says about servicing the bike ??? How many miles....
Secondly,
I would like to know what the dealership near you costs for an oil change. I never priced an oil change or coolant flush, so I would like to find out some generic pricing for it incase I feel like going and getting it there next time.
Thanks for the help guys,
and YES I DID SEARCH !!!!

Click here for the link to the shop manual, the maintenance schedule is on page 4-4.
I took my 05 in for the 600 mile first check up and it was right at $100. I've never taken her back again. I don't trust anyone working on my bike. I only took it in for the first check up in case there were any issues for assembly.

I took my bike to Honda for the 1st 2 services and have never taken it back. When i got it back the second time my fairings were scratched up and there was oil all over the bottom of my bike. I really have no trust in the Honda people who work at these dealerships. You never know if the mechanic or just some guy on the showroom floor is handling your bike.
In my dealings with warranties (not with Honda exactly) they primary only cover major flaws in manufacturing and if you have 5700 miles on your bike already and there is nothing wrong with it you are probably in the clear. THese companies try to weasle their way out of warranties as much as possible with exclusions so warranties really arent that great

That's what I'm talking about. They left one bolt out of my lower fairing, not a big deal and they gave me one to put back in... BUT!!! what if that bolt went to something important, like the breaks or the gemlin pin that holds the entire bike together.
We have a relationship with our own bike and will take much better care of it, and ourselves. If you take the time to read the shop manual and ask questions here... you'll be surprised at how easy maintenance is to do on a bike.
