Winterizing your bike?

RE: Winterizing your bike?
You want to run the bike with the stabilizer in it to make sure that it gets into the entire fuel system and not just the gas in the tank. At the beginning of the riding season you can siphon out the old gas and use it in your lawn mower and stuff. Then go and fill your bike with nice new stuff.

what is winterizing a bike good for?
why would one do such a thing?
Here in Honolulu, we dont do that stuff...we ride ALL year long!!!
plantnumbob, you never said if you were keeping in the garage or not. I am sure you are but just making sure. If not, i would drain and refill the coolant putting a bit more antifrieze than what is recommened on top of the fuel stabilizer and battery trickle charge.
Just put chains on the tires and forget about the whole winterizing thing!!!

Thanks cwmc29, thats what I will be doing now I think. Although...how are you taking her out for a spin and getting rid of the old gas when the tank was full? Must be a long spin. (Your tank is stored full with the stabilizer right?)

The tanks are not aluminum. They do rust very well. Full tank with stable or equive ist best. Be sure and run it for a few minutes after adding stable to get it through the system. Changing the oil is good because it removes all the impurities out of the system.

RE: Winterizing your bike?
808 your KILLIN' us northern peeps with your riding all year long !! DAMMIT ! But here in sunny southern Michigan we usually getat least a handfuulof daysin the winter that are sunny and warm enough (40ish?) to ride, so I keep her ready to roll. I put in a full tank of premium and Stabiland ride to get everything through the system, wax it up and wipe down everything, lube up the chain, put it on front and back stands, put iton a battery trickle charger, cover it up and and startit up every weekend and let it run for about 10 minutes. So when it's warm enough to rideI'm ready to go. When Spring hitsIchange the oil and filter.
