RE: werid clicking sound on my new bike
i just changed my cctl out last week. It has been alright and makes a lot less noise than what it had been doing. Check to see if it makes the sound on deceleration.. or around 5000 rpm. It sounds like a bb in a pop can. I changed mine with the oem honda one because i didn't want to wait for the manual one and it has to be adjusted every so often. Alot of people like the manual one but just make sure you don't tighten it too tight!

ok it seems like you guys are talking about the same part and calling it two different things lol im so confused. my buddy bought a "cct" for is f4 and it looks just like the thing mpbigham showed the link for. BUT cct and cctl sound completely different. the cct tensions and the cctl lifts. so wuts the deal? thanks

RE: werid clicking sound on my new bike
cct cctl are 2 different things. a cam chain tensioner is like a long shoe type device that puts tension on the chain to keep it taught, it is there for R&R purposes. the cam chain tensioner lifter is the device we are talking about here that makes the clicking sound, it is a plunger device that keeps the tensioner against the chain. hopefully that makes sense to you that with the cam chain tensioner lifter going bad will create some slack in the chain and make it rattle in there.
while not a cbr motor this picture should give you the basic idea behind what a cct is and what the cctl does.

Ok kinda does lol. We did my buddies f4i cct and converted it to the manual one. It got rid of his vibrating sound. So im having a vibrating sound and a tick. The vibrations only occur around 5-6 then stop when it gets above or below. The tick is constant with motor speed.
