i just bought a 99 600 f4 and when i start it it sounds fine but after i rev it and let it go back to idle it has a weird clicking/ticking sound. the previous owner said it was probably the cct but it still has this sound after it has warmed up sufficiently. any help would be great i am very appreciative of what you guys do as far as helping others.

cam chain tensioner *lifter* is what it is. also 16000 mile check of valves. my 99 f4 does same thing. I'm dong 16k overhaul and replacing CCTL with a manual CCT.

hopefully it helps. It is quite annoying

if you order a cam chain tensioner (CCT) you will get a diff part from cam chain tensior lifter(CCTL)

So what happens if you're getting the ticking sound even after replacing the CCTL over the winter?
Granted, I just replaced it with a new one from Honda...

 

thats kinda what i was wondering. i just rode it a lil today and it ticked sometime but it didnt at others mostly when it was revving but not to much at idle anymore im confused

 

any help will be appreciated the local bike shop is kinda mean when it comes to just helping one out without charging out the *** for it
