so my throttle turns about 1/2" before it actually engages. i've looked at it quickly and dont know if there is a way to get rid of the extra play before the it engages?

 

You can adjust it on the cable. The adjustment point is where the cable is comming out the throttle at the bottom...just past the elbo, you'll see a lock nut and a threaded sleeve, that's where you make the adjustment, adjust it to your liking without making so tight it increases the idle of the engine. I think all you need is a 10mm and 12mm wrenches. There is also an adjuster at the carbs/throttle bodies, but you shouldn't need to adjust that one.
