So I bought a 99 600f4 used. Nothin wrong with used bikes, just beware. I wasn't able to see it when I bought it, but this guy did a hackjob on the wireing harness, but had it hidden well enough that I couldn't see it. Is there supposed to be a terminal in my fuse box for tail? cause well, i dont have one. there was a fuse there, but no terminals for it to plug into. The running lights worked when i bought it, but i took off the tailcone once to get some major gunk off it, and plugged it back up and the running feature is off. it works when brake applied, but no running feature. as for blinkers, I had to disable them when I got the integrated tail cause the brake light wouldnt work when the blinkers were on full on (dont really understand that but sure, and it worked). I pulled majority of the harness only to find tape and splices everywhere... It seems like a fuse, but theres no fuse!... Only think I know is for some reason the headlight fuse blows when I messing with the tail light.... I searched the forums and tried anything I saw. check fuses, wires, even spliced into my liscense plate light and spliced into the old running light wire used for my blinkers.

SO! my reason for telling that long story is after having me and 2 friends look at the harness and all 3 of us confused... I think im just going to get some LEDs (red or amber) from autozone or discount and just wire up a few of those to sit on the tail to make me visible at night. I'm gonna make them look good so cops are less likely to bother me (in La they don't care anyways). If I ever move out of an apartment complex to a house where I have a garage to tear this stuff down and maybe even replace the harness, then I would turn them into blinkers or something. Otherwise, I just dont have the time or place to. Nor do I have the money to have a shop fix it (broke college kid... send dontations!)....

Now my point... (I know its getting long...lol). Can anyone tell me a reason not to do this? It seems unfixable considering how much of a hack job is done to this thing...

 

Dude, it's only wiring. Your dealing with a hack job, so another hack job on top of that will be no good either. You must know someone that at least knows a little bit about electricity and wiring. I'm a little bias being that I'm an electrical engineer but this stuff is cake once you get an understanding of it. You need to get a hold of a shematic and just stare at it for a while.
