Default Tad help with brake light wiring

So I got a aftermarket ebay taillight. I must say this wiring is a pita. So the ebay one has a total of 5 wires 2 yellows (turn signals) and red, green and black. So far I have the turn signals left and right working perfectly fine. But the white LED's for the license is not lighting up unless I hit the brake and the brake lights aren't coming on if I hit the brake obv. Something is mixed up. I'm just not exactly sure what it is. Can someone give me a tad insight to this please. I can get some pics if needed.

Which one is ground? green or black? and did you just swap the red until you found out which wire was the running light?
