Default Stripped Coolant Plug, now what??

Hi all!

When troubleshooting a leak, I've been tightening and untightening the coolant drain bolt at the water pump several times until I stripped the thread in the pump (not the bolt).

I can tighten it a bit, but not tight enough, so the new crush washer is not sealing properly.

What can I do? Re-thread it? Cold welding?

Regards,

If you can get to it to rethread it to a bigger bolt, that may work. I'd almost just tell you to replace the pump though. No sense in risking it, since if it pops out while riding, it would make for a BAD day.

Now that you mention it, I guess it would be one of the worst things to happen...it pops, at 130mph I don't see it, and there goes a whole engine!

Thanks for the alert!

I'm taking it to the mechanic, which I use for emergencies, to get a reliable solution, even if it may be the whole pump. I'm not risking it with magic solutions!

Thanks!
